This is the News of Culver City National Little League. We will updated all information on this page. You can know the latest info any time you visit here.

In case of rain…….please be sure to call the Game Hotline – 310-202-1238. The message on this line is only updated when there is game cancelation or other important information, so if the message hasn’t been updated recently it means that all games are still on. Please note that while the Game Hotline is updated almost immediately after the decision has been made to cancel, the webpage cannot always be updated in a timely fashion. So please be sure to call the Hotline if you are in doubt.

Mark your calendar……..Saturday, March 14 is Picture Day. For a schedule of times for each team, click here. There will be a Make-Up Picture Day on Saturday, March 21 from 8 am to 10 am for everyone unable to attend the March 14 date.

The Safety Manual has just been posted on the CCNLL Safety Page. This manual covers many important safety dos and don’ts as well as procedures for emergency situations. If you are a coach or a concerned parent, this is well worth the read. You can link it directly here.

Dodger Night Flyer correction: As many of you already know, the Dodger Night flyers that went out to the team parents had a typo. Please note that the price of the ticket is actually $30 rather than $15 (it’s still a great deal). We have also extended the deadline to order tickets until March 10th. View the revised flyer here.

More Softball games have been added: Below is a list of interleague games in both Major and Minor Softball that have been added thanks to the hard work of new Softball VP Gabby Chacon.

Need the bats for softball game?……… Just check the list of the best asa softball bats at Website HittersBats.com where you can trust to purchase any bats.

Closing Ceremonies…………will be held this Saturday, June 14, from 1 pm to 4 pm up at Bill Botts.

Board Meeting canceled…………Due to unforeseen problems in booking a room, the board meeting originally scheduled for Thursday, June 12 and then rescheduled for Wednesday, June 11 has been canceled. Check back for news on the eventual date of the June meeting.

Tournament of Champions update……….CCNLL’s Major Softball Dodgers triumphed in their first two rounds and are headed to the Championship Game against Malibu on Saturday – 10 am at the Beverly Hills fields. The remainder of our divisions, unfortunately, did not fare as well. The Major Baseball Pirates came up short against North Venice despite an exciting two-out rally in the fifth. The Minor Baseball Cardinals charged from behind to take a lead against Culver City, but could not hold it and were eventually defeated.

The Minor Softball Mets played tough, but could not overcome their West L.A. rivals. Scores for all the TOC games are available by clicking here or by following the link under “Standings” on the right side of this page. Current the BBCOR baseball bats being the most used in tournaments and there are two drop you should consider before buy that drop 5 and drop 3 bats and according to our experience that if you use the best drop 5 baseball bats in leagues then this is the great choice. You can master the baseball game with this type of bat.

The King of the Hill…………..has been crowned. On Monday, the CCLL Pirates defeated the Marlins to win bragging rights in our local AA interleague competition. In the consolation match, the Cubs defeated the Mets to claim third place.

Volunteers still needed…………for the Tournament of Champions. We need scorekeepers, announcers, snack bar workers and people to help prepare the fields. This is an opportunity for Culver City National Little (and its brand new infields) to shine, so please help out in any way you can. Please contact George Aceves to volunteer (310-477-2095 or 310-628-8737). For a look at the TOC schedule, follow this link.

It’s official……….Early Registration for the season will be held on Wednesday, November 12 from 6:30 pm to 8 pm at Vet’s Park in the Rotunda, and Final Registration will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2009, from 9 am to 3 pm also at the Rotunda at Vet’s Park. Please note that Little League headquarters in Williamsport is adamant that all leagues strictly adhere to official league boundaries which means that CCNLL (and all area leagues) will be enforcing residency requirements without exception. Please visit the Sign Up page for more information on our boundaries and other requirements for registration.

Schedule change…….To give the Minor Softball game a little extra time, the May 17 AA Dodgers at Diamondbacks has been pushed back from 4:30 pm to 5 pm.

Let’s be good neighbors…….to our friends at Rolling Greens Nursery just down the hill from our fields. They have reported that unsupervised children have been throwing rocks at the greenhouses, cars parked at the Nursery, and even at customers. Luckily nobody has been injured, but the nursery has sustained costly damage to some of its buildings. So, please do not let children wander unsupervised on the hills behind the park. And if you see anyone engaged in such behaviour, please tell them to stop or alert a coach or board member to the problem.

Fields of green………are what CCNLL and the Culver City Parks Department are shooting for as the weather warms up. The city has worked out a schedule for watering the playing fields that should keep them in fine shape throughout the rest of the season. If you’re agronomically-minded you can find that schedule here.

The league and the parks department are asking everyone PLEASE do not tamper with the sprinkler heads. We have had some trouble with unauthorized “adjustments.” If you see that the fields are drying out – or are suffering from over-watering – please notify the field manager and they will handle it. Thanks.
